Operating Legally

  • ARE WE QUALIFIED?

Yes we are. Pilot training courses, written exams, writing our own manuals & procedures, passing an assessed flight test before we could then apply for our CAA permissions. We train throughout the year when not conducting operations to ensure we keep improving.

  • ARE WE LEGAL?

Again, yes. We have our CAA permissions, this opens the door for operating legally and thus charging for services. We can provide a copy when asked and you can find us on the CAA website.

  • ARE WE INSURED?

Of course, we hold ours with Flock, a specialist insurer for this industry. Standard public liability insurance is not valid for using UAVs/drones. We do all we can to reduce and manage risk anyway but would be negligent to operate uninsured. As with our permissions, we can gladly provide proof of cover if asked to do so.

  • THE ABSOLUTE BASICS OF LEGAL FLYING – THE DRONECODE

Whoever you decide to hire for any aerial media, please at least be aware of the Dronecode – https://dronesafe.uk/drone-code/ – as this is the absolute minimum of what a drone pilot can do. Legally. Have a read and educate yourself so you know whether someone’s telling porkies or not. Bottom line is, if they say that it doesn’t apply to them, ASK TO SEE THEIR PERMISSIONS which will detail all the exemptions they have to back up their statement. If they can’t show it, walk away and find someone else.

You can also find licensed operators on the CAA website via their monthly pdf. Again, if they’re not on there, walk away and find someone that is. Like us.
